The Black Book & Note Book 2012

The 5th SA Innovation Summit's Black Book this year received a friend; The Note Book.

The Black Book features this year's 66 speakers, an extended directory and an entertaining 'helpful key' contents page. The Note Book featuring inspiring quotes, creative concepts, interesting facts and unusual interactive pages – each alongside a notes page to encourage note taking. Both books were nicely packaged in a beautiful box (photo's coming soon).

David Constance - board decals

A while back we put together a logo for board shaper David Constance and went round to the workshop to see the decals being applied.

The boards are 'new era design' and with this in mind researched modern design and typefaces from the Bauhaus days. Futura was our source of inspiration, it's a san-serif typeface based on the geometric shapes that were representative of the Bauhaus design style. We made up a grid and interlinked shapes to construct the logo.

Summer is on its way again and we expect to see a few of these rather experimental shapes in the water.

New Letterpress item - The Jungle card

A while ago we collaborated once again with Planet Press to create this A5 letterpress art piece - The Jungle card, inspired by Henri Rousseau's paintings.

It wasn't an easy feat... This beauty is made up of two colours which creates the third once inked, registration on a complex handmade artwork like this isn't easy,  but the Planet Press team worked incredibly hard to get it spot on!

We have given our website a slight facelift! Check out the work page with it's new buttons, and our latest blog posts are now embedded with featured tweets, Facebook feeds and Instagram pics on our blog page. Front cover design for the Innovation Journal, brought to you by Management Today Magazine and the SA Innovation Summit. It was made from printed dictionary words torn up, and slightly messy due to the use of papier mache, see the process here.

SA Innovation Summit - Book Teasers

We've been burning the candle at both ends over the last couple of months… and have finally reached the proofing stage. It's hard work but man is it going to be satisfying to hold the end package.

The above pictures we're taken just minutes ago, the samples have been returned to the printers and we have given the green light. We don't want to give anything away but will say that last year's Black Book now has a companion and if you enjoyed the end result - you should be blown away with this one.

A Hilltop Country Retreat Website

A Hilltop Country Retreat offers beautiful down-to-earth luxury accommodation, located in Swellendam.

We not only had the pleasure in taking the photos to showcase the rooms, but also recently created their website and blog.

We can't wait to stay there again. They have the best pillows, and not sure if it's the air, or the wine... but you sleep really well there! They have been fully booked for a while, so recommend booking early.
